Disney's Marketing Mix




With a client such as Disney, there are many different products available to market to audiences of all ages and genders across the world. Firstly, there are a larger products available such as the Disney Resorts and Parks. Disney also provide smaller products which are more readily and financially available. Products such as memorabilia, home wear and soft toys. Along side physical products, Disney now offer a pay monthly/annually subscription to their online streaming service called 'Disney Plus'. This provides customers with unlimited access to past and present Disney movies, series and documentaries. The streaming service is updated regularly by adding new programmes, Disney movies and other content for its customers to enjoy according to their age and personal preferences.



Disney is well known for its production of animated movies. Classics such as Beauty and the Beast and Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. Both a glimpse of Walt Disney's successful creations. Merchandise for these movies such as clothing, soft toys and movie soundtracks are as popular today as they were when the movies were first released all those years ago. When a Disney movie premieres in the cinema or Disney Plus, adults and children alike rush to their nearest Disney Store/Online Shop to purchase the latest product merchandise available. If the products sell out, customers can leave their email addresses and be contacted when the products become available again.

Disney's marketing success comes from its many avenues of advertising. Each year, Disney release a heartfelt Christmas advert, usually telling a story and advertising the importance of love and family at Christmas time and receiving a gift of a new Disney toy. This product is then made available in stores and online for children who want the toy for Christmas.

Disney also advertise through many social media platforms. Facebook/Instagram advertisements are popular with Disney, they offer discounts/offers instore and online with the use of a code/limited time only offer. This code is input at the check out and the customer can receive free delivery or the product at a discounted price. Disney also run campaigns through their social media platforms. Campaigns for the year 2022 have included 'Feels like home' and 'Nowhere else' to promote the online global community of 164.2 million subscribers.

Occasionally, companies who associate with Disney run competitions to win trips to Disney resorts or tickets to the latest Disney movie releases. Customers simply need to like/share the post of social media sites such as Facebook/Instagram for a chance to win the prize. Once this post has been shared, others will do the same and the cycle continues until one lucky winner is picked. This promotes the Disney products on offer as well and the Disney brand itself. 

Disney are also on the social media platform 'TikTok'. TikTok enables viewers to keep up to date with the latest news from the Disney Parks and Resorts, upcoming movie trailers, movie clips and interviews with cast members. These videos can be liked and shared with others on the platform which can lead to the product to 'trend'. This means more clicks and views on the Disney page itself. 

Magazines and Travel leaflets are also a form of marketing various Disney products. Travel mags include flights and accommodation offers to Disney Land resorts across Europe and the rest of the World. These are usually limited time offers to entice customers to book the best prices for their family holiday. 

In terms of adaptation, Disney have modernised the way their market their products to make it more accessible to their customers. You can buy Disney products at the touch of a button using a laptop or smart phone on the online Disney Store where as before, this was only available through a physical Disney Shop. 



Disney movies were only available to buy in DVD/Video format until recently. Now, customers have access to movies past and present right at their finger tips using the Disney Plus streaming service. With a pay monthly/annual service, its most cost effective and gives customers unlimmited access to Disney Movies and Series.
